Prof. Andrzej Szuba MD, PhD, Department of Angiology, Hypertension and Diabetology, Wrocław University of Medicine, Wroclaw, Poland

Dr Andrzej Szuba is currently Professor of Medicine and head of the Department of Angiology, Hypertension and Diabetology at Wroclaw Medical University, Poland. He specializes in internal medicine and in vascular medicine. Having obtained a PhD in 1991 for his thesis entitled "Superoxide Dismutase Activity in Patients with Arteriosclerosis Obliterans," he then did a post-doc in the Department of Biochemistry of SUNY Health Science Center, in Brooklyn (New York City) and the Cardiovascular Department of Stanford University (Stanford, USA).

Dr Szuba has received various honors, awards, and grants for his clinical and scientific work in vascular medicine. He has been principal investigator in various research projects, such as one on “The role of the lymphatic system and macrophages in the prevention and regression of atherosclerosis.” He is currently running several research projects related to the lymphatic system, cerebrovascular disease, vasculitis and lymphedema.

He is current President of the International Society of Lymphology. In Poland he is the President of the Lymphological Chapter of the Polish Phlebological Society and the President Elect of the Polish Angiological Society.

Dr Szuba is Vice-Editor-in-Chief of Acta Angiologica and also an Editorial Board member of the Journal of Lymphatic Research and Biology, Physiotherapy, and Polish Oncology. He has authored or co-authored more than 220 publications in peer-review journals. His h index is 24.
