Dr. Papadopulos, born in Greece, 2009 was elected as Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Munich Technical University in Munich, Germany, as well as September 2014 as associate Professor, and March 2018 as Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Democritus University of Thrace in Alexandroupoli, Greece. Additionally, since the academic year 2017/2018 he is Visiting Professor at the School of Medicine of the University of Athens in Athens, Greece.

His main interests are: "Fetal and Adult Wound Healing", "Adipose- and Blood-Derived Stromal Cells for Cell Therapy", “Micro- and Hand Surgery”, "Sex Affirming Surgery", "Aesthetic Surgery", and "Quality of Life after Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery". For his engagement in these fields, he received among others the "Hans Anderl Award 2006" of the European Association of Plastic Surgeons (EURAPS).

Dr. Papadopulos is an active member of more than 20 different national and international societies. He presented more than 500 lectures, courses and papers in 5 different languages in meetings, hospitals and universities worldwide, and published more than 100 scientific publications with an H-index 24, and impact factor over 120. Additionally, he contributed in other books with chapters, and served as Co-Editor of the books entitled "Cleft lip and palate: Diagnosis and Treatment" (Mponisel 2013, Athens, Greece), and "Skin Cancer and Melanoma: Surgical Treatment and Reconstruction" (Springer 2020, Cham, Switzerland), as well as of the Supplement "Transsexual-Surgery" at the peer review Journal "Hand-Surgery, Microsurgery, Plastic Surgery".

Dr. Papadopulos served as President of the International Fetal Medicine and Surgery Society (IFMSS), the Hellenic Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery (HSRM), and the Greek Society of Lymphology (GSL), as well as Council Member at the European Association of Plastic Surgeons (EURAPS). Currently he is Executive Committee Member of the Hellenic Society of Hand Surgery (HSHS), and the Local Host of the 2024 EURAPS Annual Meeting, Athens, Greece.
