
Theodoros Papaionnou
Theodoros Papaioannou is Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Medical School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Head of Biomedical Engineering Unit at First University Department of Cardiology (Hippokration Hospital) and Director of Department of History of Medicine and Medical Ethics. He received the Diploma of Mechanical Engineer from the National Technical University of Athens and his Ph.D. from the Medical School of Athens. Visiting Professor at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne and "Carol Davila" University, Bucharest. He was consultant of Microsoft Research (Microsoft, USA) and Researcher at the Computational Biomedicine Lab, Department of Computer Science, Houston University and , Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens. President of Vice-President of the Hellenic Society of Digital Medicine and the Hellenic Department of the Balkan Medical Union. His research interests focus on cardiovascular mechanics, clinical engineering, modeling, development and clinical evaluation of new biomedical methods, medical devices and medical humanities. His research has been published in 230 articles in international scientific journals with more than 6800 citations.
